Saturday, March 9, 2-4 pm. A first-person portrayal of Captain Philomene Daniels, the first licensed female steamboat pilot, presented by Jane Vincent of Waltham, VT. Philomene and her husband, Louis, began the Daniels’ Boat Line in 1877, which operated out of the basin area in Vergennes, VT and was the last commercial steamboat business on Otter Creek. “Captain Phil” was reported to be “one of the most picturesque and colorful figures in the history of steamboating on Otter Creek.”
